Women have always held each other birth

For as long as humans have existed, women have been birthing in communities of mother, grandmothers, sisters, aunties, and wise women gathered around the birthing mother, singing her open, witnessing her transformation, and catching her on the other side. Birth is a sacred, alchemical rites of passage that shift our whole biology it is meant to be held, and supported

A Doula is the return of something ancient, the sister who walks with you into the fire and back out again.

The word doula comes from the Greek for "a woman who serves." But to me, a doula is something far more intimate than a service. She is a sister. A witness. A keeper of your story. She does not manage your birth, she holds the space so that you can move through it as the sovereign woman you already are.

In a world that has medicalized and fragmented the birthing experience, a doula is a guide on the journey of your own remembering. She returns you to your body, to your lineage, to the long unbroken line of women who have done exactly this before you.
